SMP
Scalp Micropigmentation - SMP Definition
Scalp Micropigmentation is a non-surgical procedure that is applied in the same manner as a tattoo, applying thousands of tiny dots (impressions) on the scalp to create the illusion of a freshly shaved head.
SMP is a specialized form of cosmetic tattooing but unlike regular tattoos, SMP requires artists who can expertly match the pigment to the tone of the shaved hair follicle, which is typically a shade of gray. The ink used is made with vegan and organic pigments.
The machine used in SMP employs micro-needles to place pigment in the upper part of the dermis, the second layer of the skin, resulting in a semi-permanent solution that lasts 3-5 years, with touch-ups needed after. It is crucial that each client must abide by proper post treatment care.
Days 1-4
- Keep head out of water when showering, only hitting the chest or body
- Avoid excessive sweating; avoid spas, saunas, working out or swimming
- Avoid sunlight
- Don't shave
Days 5-6
- Rinse with cold water
Day 7
- Resume normal routine; use hot water, shave, etc.
- You may use a small amount of organic coconut or olive oil on the head daily to keep the skin moisturized
SMP Density Fill (For Thinning Hair, Not Full Baldness)
Scalp Micropigmentation density fill is a non-surgical treatment designed for men with existing hair who are experiencing thinning, diffuse loss, or scalp show-through. Tiny pigment impressions are layered between your natural follicles to create the look of increased density, reduce contrast between hair and scalp, and make hair appear fuller and thicker.
Great for:
- Receding or thinning areas at the hairline
- Crown thinning
- Diffuse thinning on top
- Making fine hair look denser
- Camouflaging scalp show-through under bright light
- Enhancing the appearance of hair transplant results
What it does:
Rather than creating a shaved-head look, density fill blends with your existing hair to create the illusion of more fullness and stronger coverage.
Natural-looking results:
Customized pigment placement and tone are matched to your hair color, skin tone, and hair density for subtle, undetectable results.
Think of it as:
A visual “shadow” that makes thin hair look thicker and darker.
